Horse Dancing Contest & Parade in Quepos

After my stay in Santa Elena I took a bus to Quepos, arriving in the afternoon. I stayed at Wide Mouth Frog Hotel in the hostel room. After a shower I walked down to the Pacific and there was an event going on. Some sort of horse dancing contest and parade was underway.

Frog .. About the size of a nickel I think this one was the 'Glass Frog' ?  not sure though.

Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve

Hiked around another cloud forest protected area today. The Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve. Similar to the one in Monteverde but I think there more very large trees at Monterverde. I saw a few small birds but heard so many birds I could not spot. Heading for the Pacific tomorrow and south.

Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve

After a nice evening talking with my couch surfing expats from Australia I went up and hiked around the preserve. It was amazing.. Such a contrast to areas impacted so negatively by human activities. I even saw a male Resplendent Quetzal and got a relatively nice photo.

Monteverde couch surf hosts

I'm at friends I met on couchsurf.org. I'll be here just one night but have a feeling I'll se them again sometime. This evening I took a walk in the forest from there place and stopped in a gallery of art by a w Oman from the USA who's lived here in Monteverde 40 years... The artist is Sarah. Quite a gallery of watercolor painting with tropical forest theme.

Such a cool artist's house and quite a garden as well.

Poas Volcano National Park

Took a bus up to the Poas Volcano yesterday. It is often cloudy up there and that was the case yesterday. Still it was a nice day visiting the example of a cloud forest in a cloud.

I'm in Costa Rica

11 Hour Layover

Nope... Looks like it won't. Glad Facebook does

Waiting

Since I'm completely packed.. and just waiting for the taxi to pick me up in Minnetonka and I need more practice.. I'll post again from my laptop.. about an hour and a half to wait.. Then more waiting in baggage and security lines.. Getting my first TSA patdown.. no thanks on the scanner.. not for modesty's sake but I've had adequate Xrays in my life.  Let them grope. 
I have the guy who designed the C5 blog add-on I was trying to figure out.. say he'd set my site up... along with the connection to the mobile app on my ipad to use with it.. If it doesn't work out I have this blogspot.. and my facebook page .. Superior Coastal Life

Costa Rica blog for iPad2

Well I have discovered limitations using my website CMS for blogging on my iPad2.. Facebook looks like it's well suited to blog on the iPad2 .. but I made a new Blogger blog also.. I downloaded an iPad2 app for blogger .. we'll see if I want to use it.. or facebook
